The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the remaining schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the latest announcement, all 74 IPL matches will take place in India, with the playoff matches set to unfold in Ahmedabad and Chennai.

The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches are scheduled for May 21 and 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, followed by the Qualifier 2 and the final showdown at Chepauk in Chennai on May 24 and 26, respectively.

The choice of these venues for the playoffs comes as no surprise, considering the previous year's finalists were Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. The decision to hold the final match in Chennai honors the city's status as the defending champion.

IPL matches amid Lok Sabha Elections

After releasing the dates for the initial 21 games, the BCCI prepared a schedule for the remaining matches.

Amid speculations about staging a part of the IPL in the UAE, the BCCI stayed committed to hosting the entire league in India. This decision was made despite security concerns due to the Lok Sabha Elections.

The IPL schedule maintains a balance between cricket fixtures and election dates, ensuring no overlaps during the seven phases of polling. Notably, matches are also set to be played in alternate venues like Dharamsala and Guwahati, catering to the preferences of teams like Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
