Australian Open: The Indo-Australian pair Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden barely broke a sweat and registered a straight-set victory over the Australian pair of John Millman and Edward Winter to enter the men's doubles third round of the Australian Open on Friday. The game lasted over an hour as Bopanna and Ebden crashed wildcards 6-2 6-4 in a second-round match.

Earlier, Rohan Bopanna, the seasoned campaigner of Indian tennis has hit another milestone figure on a thrilling Thursday at the Australian Open. The 43-year-old Indian maestro notched his 500th tour-level doubles win alongside Matthew Edben. The pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Edben is seeded second in the men's doubles draw.
Facing James Duckworth and Marc Polmans in their opening game, Bopanna and Edben secured victory by 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(10-2) to move to the second round. Bopanna and Edben finished with a semifinal run at the Tour Finals in 2023 and carried the sublime form into 2024 to lift the title in Adelaide.
The pair emerged victorious in the tie-break in their opening-round match, before wrapping up a two-hour, nine-minute game.
Rohan Bopanna was born on March 4, 1980, in Bengaluru. He spent his childhood in Coorg, Karnataka, where his family owned a coffee plantation.
Rohan Bopanna has been deeply interested in sports since childhood. He tried his luck at hockey and football before finally taking up tennis at the early age of 11. It took him 8 more years to finally determine tennis as a full-time career.
The legendary tennis star is married to Supriya Annaiah. The couple tied the knot in 2012. Supriya Annaiah is a psychologist and media personality. She is also leading the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Development Foundation, which is registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
Supriya Annaiah and Rohan Bopanna have a daughter Tridha Bopanna.
Coach Balachandran Mannikath, also known as 'Balu Sir' in the Indian Tennis circuit, has mentored many players, including Rohan Bopanna.
An Arjuna awardee, Rohan Bopanna won the French Open in 2017 with Gabriela Dabrowski (Canada) in Mixed doubles.
