AUS vs WI: The second Test between Australia and West Indies in Brisbane witnessed a captivating day of fluctuating fortunes on Friday, with West Indies holding a slender lead despite Australia's late fightback. The tourists began the day brightly, capitalizing on their first innings total of 311, but the Aussies roared back courtesy of half-centuries from Alex Carey and Pat Cummins.

The day belonged to young West Indian all-rounder Kevin Sinclair, who is making his name in Test cricket history with his maiden wicket celebration. Bowling with fiery zeal, Sinclair dismissed Usman Khawaja for 75 with a searing delivery that was caught at slip by Alick Athanaze. To celebrate, the debutant performed a sensational cartwheel backflip, erupting the Gabba crowd in a whirlwind of joy.

Carey-Cummins revive Australian innings

However, Australia wasn't done yet. Carey hammered a brisk 65, while Cummins played a captain's knock, remaining unbeaten on 64 in the pink ball Test. Their partnership revived the innings, propelling Australia to declare at 289/9.

In the final session, under the floodlights, Josh Hazlewood struck early, removing Tagenarine Chanderpaul for 4 in the final delivery of the day. The dismissal was confirmed by a late spike on UltraEdge, handing Australia a crucial breakthrough heading into Day 3.

West Indies takes lead

West Indies took the lead of 35 runs as they scored 13/1 in the second innings. Currently, the pendulum swings precariously between the two sides. Cummins' tactical gamble of bowling with the pink ball under lights brought immediate dividends. Kraigg Brathwaite nearly fell victim to Mitchell Starc, but Steve Smith's butterfingers in the slips reprieved the West Indian skipper.

Smith, himself opening in place of the retired David Warner, had a forgettable outing in the first innings. He was dismissed leg before Kemar Roach's final delivery of the opening over. He managed to score just 6 runs. Marnus Labuschagne followed suit shortly after, adding to the early tremors in Australia's chase
