Asian Para Games: India's Ankur Dhama secures gold in men's 5000 m T11 event

India has a total of 17 medals in the event so far, with six gold, six silver, and five bronze medals adding to the tally.

India is having a medal feast on second day at the ongoing Para Asian Games in Hangzhou, China as para-athlete Ankur Dhama made India proud by clinching the gold medal in men's 5000 meters T11 final on Monday.

The 29-year-old Arjuna awardee secured the gold medal by clocking 16:37.29 minutes. Kyrgyzstan Abduvalie clinched the silver medal with the timings of 17:18.74 minutes. With Hong Kong's Li Chun Fi getting the last spot with timings of 18:41.40 minutes, no one claimed bronze medal in the multination event.

India started its campaign today by adding 12 medals, which include 5 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze.

11 medals in Athletics

India has a total of 17 medals in the event so far, with six gold, six silver, and five bronze medals adding to the tally. 11 of these medals came from athletics, with five gold, three silver, and bronze medals each.

India secured 72 medals at the last Para Asian Games in Indonesia back in 2018. This is country's best-ever performance at the event and Indian athletes will be eying to surpass the landmark. The fourth Para Asian Games is underway and will continue till October 28.
