Asian Para Games: Dharmaraj Solairaj wins gold in Men's Long Jump-T64 event

India stands at the fourth position in the medal tally with a total of 98 medals, including 26 gold, 29 silver, and 43 bronze medals.

Indian para-athlete Dharmaraj Solairaj clinched a gold medal in the Men's Long Jump-T64 at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Friday. The veteran Indian athlete scored 6.80 points in the final event to clinch the top position on the podium while Sri Lanka's Maththaka Gamage secured the silver medal with 6.68 points. Japan's Matayoshi Koto managed to score the bronze medal with 6.35 points.

Solairaj scored 6.36 points in his fourth attempt. However, the Indian athlete made 6.80 points in his last and sixth attempt to clinch the gold medal. Maththaka's second attempt was his best and put 6.68 points on the scoreboard. Two other Indian athletes missed the podium by just a few points as Ramudri Someswara and Pardeep finished in fifth and sixth place.

In the ongoing fourth Asian Para Games, the Indian contingent has shown a stellar performance by recording its best-ever medal tally in the multisport event.
