Among the shining stars of this event is India's Nishad Kumar, who not only clinched a gold medal but also set a new Asian Games record in the Men's High Jump T47 on Monday.

Nishad Kumar's Record-Breaking Leap

In an awe-inspiring display of talent and determination, Nishad Kumar leaped to a new Asian Games record, securing the coveted gold medal. His remarkable jump of 2.02 meters left his competitors trailing behind. China's Hongjie Chen, with a jump of 1.94 meters, earned a well-deserved silver, while India's Ram Pal shared the silver honour with a similar jump in his fifth attempt.

The excellence of Indian para-athletes continued to shine through as Monu Ghangas secured a bronze medal in the Men's Shot Put-F-11 Final. His season-best throw of 12.33 meters, achieved during his fourth attempt, sealed his place on the podium. The gold medal in this event was claimed by Iran's Amirhossein, who unleashed a season-best throw of 13.92 meters. Mahdi Olad, also from Iran, secured the silver with a throw of 13.30 meters. Balaji Rajendran produced his personal best throw of 11.56 meters, narrowly missing a podium finish.

Dominance in Men's High Jump-T63 Event

The Para Asian Games also witnessed India's dominance in athletics, with Shailesh Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu, and Ram Singh Padhiyar clinching gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, in the Men's High Jump-T63 event. Shailesh Kumar triumphed with a jump of 1.82 meters, securing the gold medal and surpassing Mariyappan Thangavelu, the Asian record holder in Men's High Jump-T42, by 0.2 meters. Thangavelu earned the silver with a season-best attempt of 1.80 meters, while Ram Singh Padhiyar finished third with a jump of 1.78 meters.

Prachi Yadav's Silver in Canoeing - Women's VL2 Final

Prachi Yadav added to India's medal tally with her silver medal win in canoeing, competing in the Women's VL2 Final. She engaged in a thrilling battle with Uzbekistan's Irodakhon Rustamova, with only a 1.022-second difference separating the two athletes. Prachi secured the silver medal with a time of 1:03.47 seconds, while Irodakhon claimed the gold with a timing of 1:02.125 seconds. Japan's Saki Komatsu completed the podium with a bronze medal, achieving a time of 1:11.635 seconds.
