India’s veteran wrestler Deepak Punia lost to Iran’s Hassan Yazdanicharati via technical superiority with a score of 10-0 in the men’s 86kg freestyle final and had to settle for silver at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday.

Deepak looked off-color today and was outperformed by the Iranian from the very beginning of the play and didn’t stand a chance against the superior contender Hassan Yazdanicharati, who is the current Olympic champion and three-time World Champion Hassan Yazdani. Yazdani is raced towards the gold medal as he takes an 8-0 lead in the first round of the play.

Deepak’s silver takes India’s tally to 105 medals in total including 28 gold medals, 36 silver, and 41 bronze, and will continue to hold the fourth position in the overall medal standings, while India has won 6 gold medals, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals, so far in Asian Games.
