The Asian Games 2023 is set to kick off in Hangzhou, China, on September 23, as India is sending a bigger and stronger contingent as compared to the previous editions, with a total of 655 athletes are travelling for the multisport event that will compete in 40 sports. The game was scheduled to be held in September 2022 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tour will feature impactful players in action. The Indian contingent will be led by Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and other major Indian athletes to watch out for include Avinash Sable, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Tejaswin Shankar and Annu Rani, among others.
Indian men’s and women’s teams will play cricket at the Asian Games for the first time in the history of the game. Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as the team’s captain for the men, and Smriti Mandhana will serve as captain for the women’s team.

The badminton contingent of India has a strong unit led by Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu and will also witness the likes of HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen in action. Shiva Thapa, Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain are among the Indian boxers taking part in the games.

Sharath Kamal Achanta, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manika Batra, and Sreeja Akula are just a few of the players competing in the table tennis group. The group representing athletics includes Olympic gold meadlist Neeraj Chopra, Kishore Kumar Jena, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Sreeshanker, Jeswin Alrdin Johnson, and Avinash Sable, among others.
Shooting, fencing, hockey, rowing, swimming, tennis, weightlifting and wrestling are the other sports to watch out for. India has world-class athletes and is expected to do well in the Asian Games.
