This change in playing conditions comes after rain forced a complete washout in the India and Pakistan game at Pallekele. Rain came to intervene again in Indias match against Nepal. India chased the target within the revised DRS target and qualified for the Super Four with ease. If the weather clears up, Indias bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah could return to action after missing the Nepal fixture for the birth of his child. PCB, the official tournament hosts, were on board with plans to move the Colombo matches to Hambantota because rain was also predicted for the following week. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) eventually sent a mail to the stakeholders announcing that the matches would be played in Colombo as originally scheduled.
