In an exciting Asia Cup match, Dasun Shanaka, who was celebrating his birthday, played a big role in helping Sri Lanka win their 13th consecutive One Day International (ODI) game. They were up against Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka had set a target of 257 runs for Bangladesh to chase.

Sri Lankan captain Shanaka, did some fantastic bowling by taking three important wickets. He began by getting rid of the first two Bangladeshi batsmen early in the match using a short-pitched delivery.

There was a point in the game where it looked like Bangladesh might have a chance to win when Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy put together a strong partnership of 72 runs. But then, Shanaka bowled a slower ball that got Rahim out, and the crowd got really excited.

Later in the game, when Bangladesh’s chances were running out, Matheesha Pathirana, bowled some really good yorkers and took an important wicket. Bangladesh was eventually all out for 236 runs in the 49th over, and Sri Lanka won the match by 21 runs.

Sri Lanka’s batting innings were also crucial for their victory. Sadeera Samarawickrama played exceptionally well, scoring 93 runs. Kusal Mendis contributed 50 runs, even though he got into some risky situations while batting.

This victory meant that Sri Lanka now has the second-longest winning streak in ODI cricket, only behind Australia’s record from 2003. It’s a remarkable achievement for Sri Lanka.

In the end, Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Shanaka and Pathirana, and the strong batting performance paved the way for their 13th consecutive ODI win.
