7th annual DREAM Series starts January 12th: Josiah Gray, Hunter Greene and others to mentor

The series will kick off in Tempe, Arizona (Tempe Diablo Stadium) on January 12th and last until the 15th.  Big names from the world of baseball will be joining the camp to motivate and mentor the younger players.  The event will include predominantly African-American students and is all set to be held during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

What exactly is the DREAM Series?

The series is an event for development experience which focuses on the skills of catching and pitching. It is designed for elite high-school athletes belonging to a diverse group. Mostly African-American and some Latino players from across the country will be partaking in the event. This program came to life back in 2017 and is operated under the wings of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball.

What are some big names attending?

Mentoring will be conducted by managers and coaches, Major and Minor League players. Anticipated attendees include Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray, Reds flamethrower Hunter Greene (a DREAM Series alumnus), and former All-Star pitcher CC Sabathia. Amateur prospects that may join are Virginia commit Aiden Harris, Tennessee commit Arnold Abernathy, and Oklahoma State commit Sir Jamison Jones.

About alumni 

Here are some names that have reached the Majors since the establishment of the program: Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker, Twins pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson, Braves outfielder Michael Harris II,  and Rays pitcher Taj Bradley. 
Here are many players who attended the 2023 MLB Draft for last year’s DREAM Series including Dillon Head (No. 25 overall to the Padres), Kendall George (No. 36 overall to the Dodgers) and Chase Davis (No. 21 overall to the Cardinals) in the first-round pick. For the second-round pick Antonio Anderson (third-round pick of the Red Sox), Nazzan Zanetello (No. 50 overall to the Red Sox) and Cameron Johnson (20th-round pick of the Cardinals) were selected.
