'India will win the World Cup', former cricketer Syed Kirmani lauds India

India, South Africa, and Australia have sealed their spot in the semis while New Zealand, Pakistan, and Pakistan are still battling for the fourth spot.

The former Indian cricketer, Syed Kirmani has backed 'Men in Blue' to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on the back of their exceptional gameplay throughout the tournament.

Kirmani was one of the crucial figures who helped India win the World Cup in 1983. The former cricketer traveled in the Vande Bharat Express along with South Africa's iconic cricketer Jonty Rhodes on Thursday.

Kirmani was quizzed after reaching Delhi about India's performances in the ongoing tournament and he told the media, "India will win the World Cup, they have played very well".

India into semis

India and South Africa have qualified for the semi-finals after playing exceptional games throughout the tournament. India is still unbeaten in the ongoing World Cup 2023 while South Africa faced a heartbreking defat against the Netherlands.

South African legendary cricketer Rhodes said that both the teams have performed exceptionally well and now things will get difficult from this point.

Speaking with media persons he said, "It has been a great tournament. Very well hosted by India. Some of the cricket, whether it is from the team or an individual, has been amazing. From here, it only gets tougher because the stakes go up".

India is set to lock horns against the Netherlands in their last league match on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, while the Protese will face Afghanistan on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
