Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad put on a brave face after his team's dismal 50-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday. Despite the heavy defeat, Gaikwad claimed that CSK didn't lose by a massive margin.

Gaikwad's post-match analysis

Gaikwad attributed the loss to poor fielding and a challenging pitch. "170 was a par score on this pitch. It wasn't easy to bat. Bad fielding cost us," he said. Gaikwad also rued the team's inability to capitalize on the power play, citing the need to play differently when chasing a higher total.

Fielding woes and areas for improvement

Gaikwad acknowledged that CSK's fielding needs significant improvement. "We missed catches and boundaries were coming. They (RCB) continued, and the momentum didn't halt till the last over," he said.

Looking ahead to the next match

Despite the setback, Gaikwad remains optimistic about CSK's chances in their upcoming match against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, March 30. "We just have to show up mentally and see what areas we can do better," he said.
