Gurugram's kind auto driver rescues lost bag containing precious diamond pendant, wins praise

New Delhi: A touching story of integrity and kindness has emerged from Haryana's Gurugram where an auto driver demonstrated exceptional honesty by returning a lost bag containing invaluable items. Arnav Deshmukh, a product manager, shared this inspiring tale on LinkedIn, highlighting how the auto driver went the extra mile to return a bag left behind by a friend.

The incident occurred when Deshmukh’s friend, who was in the process of relocating, took an auto-rickshaw around 1 PM. After paying the fare via UPI, she accidentally left behind her purse. The bag was not only filled with essential documents such as her Aadhaar card, PAN card and various bank cards but also included a sentimental family heirloom, a gold chain with a diamond pendant gifted by her late grandmother and mother.

Bag returned with all items safe

Realizing the bag was missing, the friend and Deshmukh were initially overwhelmed with panic. They tried reaching out to the driver through the UPI payment app but were unsuccessful. They then contacted the Gurugram police, who promptly began efforts to locate the auto-rickshaw.

An hour after the initial distress call, the situation took a turn for the better when the property manager informed them that the auto driver, Manirul Jaman, had returned the bag. The relieved duo found that all items in the bag, including the precious gold chain, were intact and undisturbed.

Deshmukh shares emotional reunion with bag

Deshmukh's post on LinkedIn captured the emotional moment: “Tears rolled over and a sense of relief filled our minds. We rushed back to find everything in the bag was in its place. This experience reaffirmed our belief that God exists and humanity prevails even in bustling cities like Gurugram,” he wrote.

The act of kindness deeply touched Deshmukh’s friend and her family. Many online users expressed their admiration for the auto driver’s honesty. One commenter remarked, “Great act of humanity. Much appreciated. Can we get his contact number as my academy wants to gift him some reward?”
