New Delhi: Food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy have long faced criticism for their high taxes and platform fees, which have only intensified user discontent with recent price hikes. A customer's recent post on social media sheds light on the significant price disparity between ordering food through Zomato and purchasing directly from a local restaurant, Murugan Idli Shop in Chennai. The comparison revealed shocking price hikes on the food delivery platform, with the same items costing up to Rs 184 less when ordered directly from the restaurant.
A user named Kanan shared a post on the X platform where he wrote, "My uncle ordered food from Murugan idly shop. See the Price difference between @zomato and actual." He highlighted the striking difference in prices, including Idlis costing Rs 66 more on Zomato, Ghee Podi Idlis priced Rs 44 more, and Masala Dosas costing Rs 128 more on the app. The total bill on Zomato was Rs 987, compared to Rs 803 when ordering directly from the restaurant. It underscores frustration among users and reigniting concerns about the high fees charged by food delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy.

Your token #152 would be way before if it was with zomato.
People should have heart to pay for employment of fellow citizens.
Another user named Rangaprasad wrote, "Murugan idly has to pay commission for Zomato or which platform they are in."
Yes coz murugan idly has to pay commission for Zomato or whichever platform they are in. So they add up their price and put it so that whatever they charge in their outlet will be received to them via online order. Mark up amount will be paid to the platform provider
