New Delhi: West Bengal's Minister Akhil Giri has once again stirred controversy with his recent statements. The minister threatened a woman forest department officer, Manisha Saav, who was in Tajpur, East Medinipur, to remove encroachments on government land. Ramnagar's TMC MLA and Minister Akhil Giri not only threatened the officer but also insulted her by calling her "idiot" and "animal."

Akhil Giri allegedly stated, "Madam, let's take everyone away. We cannot live longer. Your life expectancy is 7-8 days or 10 days. I am telling you. I know what the forest department does. We all know how big the corruption is in it. I will expose everything in the assembly. You don't know me." The incident arose from complaints about illegal shops set up on forest department land in Tajpur.

Despite previous shops existing on the land, new encroachments were made on Friday night. Forest department range officer Manisha Saav visited the site to address the issue. Upon receiving information, Minister Akhil Giri also arrived at the location.

Minister justifies his actions

In a video, the woman officer can be heard saying, "Sir, I have nothing personal against you or them. I am just doing my duty." In response, the minister argued that a portion of the embankment had collapsed, and some shops were at risk of being washed away. He claimed that shopkeepers had set up their stalls just a few meters away from the embankment to protect their livelihood. Giri insisted that once the embankment is repaired, the shops would be vacated. He criticized officials for demolishing the shops at midnight.
