A video capturing the assault of two young sadhus in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, igniting widespread attention. The incident reportedly occurred at Guptar Ghat, one of the city's notable locations.

According to reports, the altercation arose after a family alleged that the sadhus had harassed women and girls, prompting a violent response. The video footage shows a young man attacking the sadhus, verbally abusing them and striking them with slippers, as a crowd gathered to witness and record the event. One of the sadhus attempts to defend himself, but the tension escalates. An older sadhu steps in, pleading with the aggressors to leave, while the voices of women, allegedly the targets of harassment, can be heard in the background.

The family involved justified their actions, claiming that the sadhus, disguised as holy men, had behaved inappropriately towards the women, which provoked their retaliatory actions.

Police intervention and investigation

The Ayodhya police swiftly intervened, detaining the two sadhus for questioning. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter. Initial findings suggest that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two parties.

"This is a case of misunderstanding that led to a street altercation. Two individuals have been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing," the police stated in an official communication.
