Update: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares few photos from 10th International Yoga Day celebrations from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

International Yoga Day (IDY), observed annually on June 21, aims to underscore the profound benefits of yoga for overall health and well-being. Today marks the 10th anniversary of this global celebration.

This year, the primary celebration is taking place at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads a yoga session on the picturesque banks of Dal Lake. Originally scheduled to begin at 6:30 AM under the Common Yoga Protocol, the event has experienced delays due to inclement weather.

Global Leadership in Yoga

Since the inception of International Yoga Day in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has spearheaded celebrations at numerous iconic venues. These include Kartavya Path in Delhi, as well as major cities like Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York. His participation underscores the global importance and universal appeal of yoga.

Delays Due to Rain

Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the event, heavy rain has caused a delay in the scheduled activities at SKICC. The organisers are hopeful that the weather will improve, allowing participants to engage in the yoga session by the serene Dal Lake, embodying the spirit of peace and wellness that yoga promotes.
