The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has organised the second edition of World Food India held from the 3rd to the 5th of November at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.The second edition of the Mega food event World Food India 2023 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.According to an official press release, “The main aim of the event was to recognise the potential of the food processing sector in transforming India into the food basket of the world.”It further adds, “India is a country of rich Culture and Flavours and the event gave a platform to showcase the rich Indian food culture and promote investment in the diverse food processing sector of the country. This also gave a chance for B2B discussions amongst participating and global entrepreneurs.”Main highlights of the eventThe National Association of Street Vendors of India participated in the Second Edition of World Food India. In the view of 75th celebration of independence, NASVI has organised 15 stalls at the event and brought 75 cuisines which were all prepared by Street Food Vendors. Nasvi has partnered with Food Street which was curated by Master Chef Ranveer Brar. Street food vendors from across the country participated in the event.Empowering street vendors across the country and giving them the golden opportunity to showcase their culinary skills at such international events gave them the entitlement of respect and opportunity.Cuisines from across the nationThe 15 stalls included dishes like Pahadi Pakodi, Tamatar Chaat, Nagori Halwa, Milken, Anguli Pitha, and many more. Street Food Vendors from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and more participated in the event. Around thousands of people came and joined the NASVI exhibition and appreciate the cooking of the vendors.Such National events gave a platform to street food vendors as they put them on the map and gave them the chance to raise their issues and what more the government could do for the betterment of their livelihood. The vendors felt a sense of inclusivity by participating in such a mainstream event. Chef Ranveer Brar took a look around the NASVI.Exhibition and meet all the vendors, he also tried the took made by the them and appreciate their efforts. Chef Kunal Kapoor also joined the NASVI Exhibition and tried the Indore Poha jalebi and Dal Pakwan and said that it was delicious. The first day was full of exposure to street food vendors and learning. The more important things were that not just the people but eminent personalities tasted the food and motivated the vendors.
