On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 102nd episode of the programme ‘Mann ki Baat.’ PM Modi spoke about many topics during the show and asked for the wishes of people ahead of the US visit. Talking about the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day which is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, PM Modi said, “This expresses the spirit of Yoga that unites and takes us together. This time I will lead a yoga session for the first time at UN Headquarters on the 9th International Day of Yoga.”

PM Modi praised the efforts of the disaster management teams in India, for the commendable work they have done in past. During the show, PM Modi said, “The strength of disaster management that India has developed over the years is becoming an example today. Cyclone Biparjoy wreaked so much havoc in Kutch, but the people of Kutch faced it with full courage and preparedness.” He also added, that the combined power of the people of India overcomes any obstacle, no matter how vast the aim or how difficult the task.

Additionally, PM Modi underlined the need to eradicate TB, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the Ni-kshay Mitra project, Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. He said, “India has set a target of eradicating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025 and ‘Ni-Kshay Mitra’ has taken charge of this movement against the disease.”

PM Modi also called the Emergency- a Dark period in the history of India. He said, “India is the mother of democracy. We cannot forget 25th June. The day when emergency was imposed. It was a dark period in the history of India. Millions of people opposed the emergency with all their might. The supporters of democracy were tortured so much during that time that even today, their mind shudders. Today when we celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav we must also observe such crimes. This will teach the young generations the meaning and importance of democracy.”
