Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, the chief of Northern Command, said that the army is ‘always operationally prepared’ on the Line of Control(LoC) with Pakistan and Line of Actual Control (LaC) with China, to meet any challenges and asserted that they would not allow anyone to enter into the Indian side.

Speaking to media persons at the three-day North Tech Symposium 2023 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, he said, “We are always operationally prepared on the LoC and LAC to meet any challenges with Pakistan and China”.

While at the occasion, Brig (retd) BD Mishra, the lieutenant governor of Ladakh, said that “not an inch of Indian land has been occupied” by China. Recalling his nine-day trip to Ladakh, senior Congressman Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading false information to the opposition about Chinese incursions in eastern Ladakh. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government has categorically denied Gandhi’s accusations.

In eastern Ladakh, India and China have been engaged in a lengthy border stalemate for the past three years. The relations between the two neighbors deteriorated after a bloody conflict in June 2020 that took place in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh and resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers in hand-to-hand battle with Chinese forces. The 19th session of the Corps Commander-level conference between the two nations was conducted at the Moldo-Chushul border on August 13 and 14.

“I won’t address what Rahul Gandhi said, but I can speak to what I’ve observed on the ground. In actuality, not even one inch of land has been inhabited”, the LG.

Lt Gen Dwivedi said that the Rashtriya Rifles were performing “very good” job in CI and CT operations (anti-terrorist operations) in the hinterland while the army remained fully prepared at the LoC and LAC. “Nearly 200 terrorists were reportedly waiting in Pakistan across the Line of Control”, he said. “Although we have vigilant soldiers stationed at the borders and are attempting to destroy them there, they are waiting to infiltrate”, he added.
