Central Railway plans to run the esteemed Vande Bharat Express with an all-female crew as part of their International Women’s Day celebrations during March 8 2025 from Mumbai. This program demonstrates the increasing importance of women across railway operations while advancing equal opportunities throughout railway workers.
All operations of Train No. 22223 CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express will run under the command of women personnel including the loco pilot and ticket examiners. On this important occasion of Indian Railways' commitment to gender equality the Vande Bharat Express will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 6:20 AM. The historic journey led by Asia’s First Woman Loco Pilot Surekha Yadav will have Assistant Loco Pilot Sangeeta Kumari onboard the train. These female leaders display the professionalism and commitment that defines women working in railway positions. The train operation depends on both Train Manager Shweta Ghone along with female Travelling Ticket Examiners who will assist passengers throughout their journey.
The ticket-checking team comprises Anushka K. P. along with M. J. Rajput serving as Head Ticket Examiners and their Senior Ticket Examiners consist of Sarika Ojha, Suvarna Pashte, Kavita Maral and Manisha Ram. As a component of its wider effort Central Railway continues to give women opportunities in leadership positions while working toward building a diverse workforce. According to an official the all-women-operated Vande Bharat Express aims to motivate upcoming generations of women to accept difficult positions within railway operations along with other fields.
