New Delhi: In an unfortunate turn of events on the newly inaugurated Vande Bharat Express from Meerut to Lucknow, a girl was reportedly mistreated on the train today. Allegations have surfaced against BJP workers for misbehaving and engaging in a scuffle. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is preparing to file a case as part of its investigation. The incident coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of the new train service today, marking a significant step in enhancing connectivity across India.

PM Modi inaugurates new Vande Bharat Express trains

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three new Vande Bharat Express trains today, August 31, with the aim of boosting connectivity across Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. These additions further strengthen the growing network of over 100 Vande Bharat Express trains that operate across more than 280 districts in the country.

Chennai Central to Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express

The first of the newly inaugurated trains is the Chennai Central to Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express, which will provide better access to significant pilgrimage sites, such as the Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai and the Kumari Amman Temple in Kanniyakumari. Although the official launch will take place from Chennai Central, the train will regularly operate from Chennai Egmore and run daily, except Wednesdays.

  • Departure: 5:00 AM from Chennai Egmore
  • Arrival: 1:50 PM at Nagercoil
  • Return: Leaves Nagercoil at 2:20 PM, reaches Chennai at 11:00 PM
  • Stops: Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli

Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express

The second train is the Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express, operating six days a week, except Tuesdays. This route is expected to improve connectivity between the historic temple city of Madurai and the cosmopolitan hub of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka.

  • Departure: 5:15 AM from Madurai
  • Arrival: 1:00 PM at Bengaluru Cantonment
  • Return: 1:30 PM from Bengaluru, arrives in Madurai at 9:45 PM
  • Stops: Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Krishnarajapuram

Meerut City to Lucknow Vande Bharat Express

The third new route is the Meerut City to Lucknow Vande Bharat Express, expected to promote religious tourism by providing faster travel to popular pilgrimage destinations such as the Digambar Jain Temple, Mansa Devi Mandir, Surajkund Temple, and Augharnath Temple. The train will operate six days a week, with Sunday and Monday as the starting days for operations from Lucknow and Meerut, respectively.

  • Departure: 6:35 AM from Meerut City
  • Arrival: 1:45 PM at Lucknow Charbagh railway station
  • Return: 2:45 PM from Lucknow Charbagh, arriving in Meerut at 10:00 PM
  • Stops: Moradabad, Bareilly

The RPF has confirmed that they are preparing to take legal action against those responsible for the scuffle, ensuring that justice is served.
