In a shocking incident that occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli district, a woman was allegedly molested by a taxi driver as she was returning home after tying a Rakhi to her brother. The distressing event unfolded when the woman, accompanied by her husband and children, was on her way back home from a family celebration.
The woman, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, had gone to her brother's residence to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolizing the bond between siblings. However, the joyous occasion soon turned into a harrowing experience.
While en route to their home, the woman alleges that the taxi driver attempted to molest her. “I had come to tie Rakhi to my brother," the woman recounted, still shaken by the ordeal. "While returning, the taxi driver molested me,” she added, according to the media reports.

The situation escalated further when the woman's husband intervened to protect her. The taxi driver, instead of backing down, allegedly attacked him. "When my husband protested, he was beaten badly," the woman added. The couple's children, who were seated in the car, witnessed the entire traumatic episode unfold before their eyes.
The incident has left the family deeply traumatized, especially the children, who were helpless spectators to the violence inflicted upon their father. "My children kept watching all this sitting in the car," the woman said, her voice filled with anguish.
The local authorities have been informed of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against the accused taxi driver, who is yet to be apprehended.
This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of women in public spaces, especially in transit.
