A local BJP leader can be seen saying to Delhi Police, "If you don't take any action in the next 48 hours, I'll butcher every muslim in this area. Be it 150K or 200K." pic.twitter.com/MQ5CnIgt8l
The incident, where the cow head was found in a drain near the J Block temple, fueled outrage among Hindu groups, accusing it of being a deliberate attempt to provoke religious sentiments. They insisted on swift forensic investigation and demanded the public disclosure of the perpetrator's identity.
Amidst the unrest, protesters disassociated themselves from a controversial viral video, dismissing it as an attempt to stoke violence. DCP Ankit Chauhan confirmed the registration of an FIR and assured the community that the investigation was being prioritized. He reassured residents of maintaining peace in the area and increased police presence as a precautionary measure. Authorities reiterated their commitment to resolve the case swiftly and take necessary actions against those responsible for the provocative acts.
Officials reported on Monday that Muslims residing in Sangam Vihar filed a police complaint, citing fear following alleged hate speeches in their locality on Sunday. The tensions arose amidst ongoing concerns sparked by the discovery of cow remains near a Hindu temple in the area.
Tension mounted in the southern part of Delhi as protests erupted over the weekend, capturing scenes of residents confronting police to demand swift action regarding the discovery of cow remains. In a disturbing video from the agitation, one individual threatened to harm a significant number of Muslims in the area if authorities failed to act within 48 hours. The incident has intensified concerns and heightened unease among locals in the vicinity.
A BJP spokesperson denied the person's association and distanced the party from the hate comments. As per him, the person in the video is from Faridabad and he came to Sangam Vihar to gain fame. Police should act as per law. We don't support all this.
