New Delhi: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Thursday that former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa could be arrested in connection with a POCSO case. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is pressing for his arrest, with the charge sheet due by June 15.

CID seeks non-bailable warrant

On Wednesday, the CID filed an application in Bengaluru's 42nd People’s Representative Special Court, requesting a non-bailable warrant against Yediyurappa. The court is expected to issue an order regarding the arrest warrant today. The government has appointed Special Public Prosecutor Ashok H. Nayak to represent the CID in this case.

Yediyurappa responds to legal notices

Yediyurappa has sought the annulment of the POCSO case by approaching the high court. Responding to a notice to appear before the CID on June 12, he stated that he would attend the hearing on June 17. Yediyurappa mentioned his previous cooperation with the investigation, noting that he attended a hearing on March 28 and plans to participate fully again after fulfilling a pre-scheduled party program in Delhi.

Background of the case and recent developments

The case against Yediyurappa stems from a complaint filed by a woman who alleged that he sexually assaulted her 17-year-old daughter at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru. Tragically, the complainant passed away last month due to a terminal illness. Despite her death, the investigation continues as the CID seeks to ensure justice.
