A tragic incident unfolded in Bhopal, where an elephant brutally trampled its mahout to death. The shocking event saw the elephant lift the mahout with its trunk, slam him to the ground, drag him along, and then crush him with its massive feet.
The incident took place on Wednesday night near Bhanpur Bridge in Bhopal. The mahout and the elephant were resting when the elephant suddenly turned violent. This elephant, known to be the mahout's pet, launched a deadly attack. Upon receiving the news, police and locals hurried to the scene, managing to separate the mahout from the elephant and escorting the animal to the police station.
The police identified the deceased as 55-year-old Narendra Kapadia from Satna district. Narendra had been traveling across the country with the elephant for years, never imagining that his trusted companion would one day take his life. ASI Rakesh Shukla, the investigating officer, stated that Narendra had a passion for keeping elephants and funded his expenses through donations from around the country. He had planned to go to Vidisha on Wednesday evening but chose to stay near Bhanpur Bridge due to the late hour. Sadly, the very elephant he had considered a companion ended his life.
Following the incident, the police tied the elephant to a peepal tree near the station and assigned a family member of the deceased to care for it. The body of the deceased was sent to the morgue for further procedures. The investigation is ongoing to understand the reasons behind the elephant's sudden aggression.
