A heart-wrenching incident has surfaced from Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, where the bodies of a teenage couple were discovered in an under-construction house in Kuiyaboot village on Sunday morning. The couple, who had eloped three days earlier, reportedly consumed poison after secretly solemnizing their relationship.
The tragic scene revealed remnants of their short-lived union. The boy had filled the minor girl's forehead with vermillion and adorned her with a mangalsutra before they took their lives. Police recovered two packets of poison, a vermillion container, and a box of bangles near the bodies. The girl was found wearing vermillion, a mangalsutra, and traditional silver toe rings.
The girl, a 15-year-old Class 10 student, was romantically involved with a 20-year-old POP artisan from a nearby village. On the night of November 21, the girl allegedly drugged her parents with sleeping pills and fled home, taking ₹48,000 in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth ₹2 lakh. Her family had filed an FIR against the boy, his father, and his brother for abduction.
On Sunday morning, a parked motorcycle near an under-construction house aroused suspicion. Upon investigation, locals found the boy’s body in the compound and the girl’s inside a room. The building lacked doors, making the discovery quicker.
Farrukhabad Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi stated, “Preliminary investigations suggest the couple committed suicide after getting married. The postmortem report will clarify the cause of death.” The police are also searching for the jewelry and cash the girl had taken. Meanwhile, the boy’s family has gone into hiding, and efforts are underway to locate them.
