Sandeshkhali and elections?

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP unveiled its list of candidates for 19 seats in West Bengal on Sunday. Protester Rekha Patra is running in the highly competitive Basirhat constituency, which includes the Sandeshkhali district.

TMC vs BJP

The TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his friends are suspected of torturing and harassing Patra, a homemaker. During his phone chat with Rekha Patra, the Prime Minister referred to her as an embodiment of Shakti and inquired about the general sentiment of the populace. Ms. Patra thanked the Prime Minister for his help after informing him of the hardships faced by the islanders, who claim that Trinamool Congress politicians had harassed them.

TMC in trouble?

The claims of land grab, extortion, and sexual harassment against Trinamool leaders by the people of Sandeshkhali have become a major discussion point ahead of the next election. In an attempt to maintain tension, the BJP has selected Ms. Patra as its candidate for the Basirhat seat, where Sandeshkhali is running.
