A state government employee on deputation in Odisha Raj Bhawan has accused Lalit Das, the son of Governor Raghubar Das, of assault. The incident reportedly occurred during President Droupadi Murmus visit to Puri last week. Baikunthanath Pradhan, an assistant section officer from the state parliamentary affairs department, lodged a complaint with Secretary to Governor Saswat Mishra, alleging that Lalit Das, along with five others, including personal security officers, assaulted him on the night of July 7.President Droupadi Murmu was staying at the Puri Raj Bhawan from the afternoon of July 7 to the morning of July 8 for the Rath Yatra festival. Pradhan, in charge of Raj Bhavan, Puri, was there from July 5 to oversee the preparations for the Presidents visit. According to Pradhans complaint, Lalit Kumar attacked him while he was on duty.Details of the Alleged AssaultPradhan recounted the events of July 7 night, stating that around 11:45 P.M., the personal cook of the Odisha Governor, Aakash Singh, approached him and conveyed Lalit Kumars request to meet him at Suite No-4. Upon arriving at the suite, Pradhan alleged that Lalit Kumar began slapping him and using abusive language. Feeling threatened, Pradhan tried to escape but was eventually caught by Lalit Kumars two personal security officers. They allegedly dragged him back to Room No. 4, where the assault continued.Witnesses and ThreatsPradhan stated that security personnel and other individuals present witnessed the incident. He described being slapped, punched, kicked, and having his left ankle twisted. Pradhan further alleged that Lalit Kumar threatened him with murder if he disclosed the incident to anyone.The complaint has brought to light serious allegations of abuse of power and misconduct within the Raj Bhawan during a high-profile visit, raising concerns about the safety and treatment of state employees.
