New Delhi: Captain Deepak Singh of the Indian Army was tragically killed during an encounter with terrorists in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, according to official reports. The encounter occurred as the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation in response to the escalating situation.
Captain Deepak Singh was a member of the 48 Rashtriya Rifles. He was the lead operative in the Shivgarh Dhar operation loacted in Assar, Doda.He sustained injuries while leading a search party in the forested area and succumbed to his wounds amid the ongoing gunfight. Singh’s sacrifice highlights the risks faced by those serving in conflict zones.
The search operation began on Tuesday night in the Akar forests, near the Patnitop tourist area, which straddles the border between Udhampur and Doda districts. Early Wednesday morning, security forces engaged in heavy gunfire after locating terrorists hiding in the dense forest.
In recent weeks, the Jammu division has witnessed a series of ambushes by terrorists targeting army personnel, security forces, and civilians. Over the past 40 days, eleven security personnel, including a CRPF jawan, have lost their lives in clashes with terrorists in the Doda and Kathua districts. Notably, two army captains have been among the fallen.
During the latest operation, security forces successfully injured one terrorist and recovered an M4 carbine along with a cache of ammunition. The operation also uncovered bloodstains and abandoned equipment, indicating the intensity of the confrontation. These findings suggest that a significant engagement took place between the security forces and the terrorists.
The situation remains tense as operations continue in the region to address the ongoing threat posed by militant activities. The loss of Captain Deepak Singh and other security personnel underscores the challenging and dangerous conditions faced by those combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
