New Delhi News: The present force head, Anish Dayal Singh, will retire on 31 December 2024. And the Centre, on its part, has already zeroed in on senior Indian Police Service officer Vitul Kumar to take over as Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Kumar is the Special Director General of the CRPF and an Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS officer belonging to the 1993 batch. According to an office document submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, he will remain there until the usual incumbent is chosen or any new order is received, whichever event precedence may occur first.
The competent authority has approved the assignment of the officiating charge for the post of Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to Vitul Kumar, IPS(UP:93), Special Director General, Central Reserve Police Force upon superannuation of Anish Dayal Singh, IPS (MA:88) on December 31, 2024 till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the documents.
Other than being in the list of notable prize winners in terms of service, some of those include President's Police Medal (PPM) on 26 January 2021 and Police Medal (PM) on August 15, 2009. The Director General Commendation Disc in Silver dated 26 January 2016 and Disc in Gold dated 26 January 2018 were also won by Kumar.
Kumar has also been officiated as the Director General of the CRPF in the place of Anish Dayal Singh, who has also announced that he would be retiring in December 2024. However, till further notice is made or an appointment is decided upon officially, he will be functioning as a caretaker for that time period.
