Who is Haryana's new Chief Minister elect Nayab Singh Saini?

New Delhi: Following the resignation of the entier cabinet of ex-Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, a new face has been put up who will fill the chair of Haryana's chief minister. Nayab Singh Saini has been selected as the new chief minister  of the state. 

Resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana's ex-chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar may tender his resignation today after serving in the position for over nine years. Earlier, speculations suggested that Nayab Singh Saini, the state president of Haryana BJP and Lok Sabha MP from Kurukshetra, could succeed him as the Chief Minister. Another contender in the discussion was Sanjay Bhatia, a prominent Punjabi leader. Reports quoting insider sources reveal that following Khattar's resignation, the entire cabinet may witness a reshuffle. Additionally, there are talks of Khattar contesting from the Karnal seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Who is Nayab Singh Saini?

Nayab Singh Saini hails from the OBC community and assumed the role of state president of BJP Haryana last year. He enjoys the trust of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and boasts extensive organizational experience. Saini's journey within the BJP dates back to 1996 when he began his responsibilities within the Haryana BJP organization. Over the years, he held various positions, including District General Secretary of Ambala BJP Yuva Morcha and District President of BJP Ambala Yuva Morcha.

In 2012, Saini was appointed as the District President of Ambala and contested the 2014 assembly elections from Narayangarh, emerging victorious. His close association with Khattar led to his appointment as Minister of State in the Haryana government in 2016. Subsequently, he secured a ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Kurukshetra, becoming an MP. In 2023, Saini was elevated to the position of state president of Haryana BJP.
