Who is Dattatreya Ramdas Gade? The History-Sheeter Behind Pune’s Shocking Bus Rape

Dattatreya Ramdas Gade is a 36-year-old man identified as the prime suspect in the horrific rape of a 26-year-old woman inside a stationary state transport bus at Pune's Swargate bus station on February 25, 2025. A notorious history-sheeter, Gade has a criminal record with multiple cases of theft, robbery, and chain-snatching registered against him in Pune and the neighboring Ahilyanagar district. He was out on bail since 2019 for a prior offense at the time of the incident and remains on the run, with Pune Police offering a Rs 1 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest.

Pune Rape Case:The rape case of a 26-year-old girl inside a bus in Pune, Maharashtra is in the news these days. People are angry about this case. Now a big revelation has been made in this rape case. The accused of rape, Dattatreya Ramdas Gade, is a history-sheeter.

The victim had reached this bus stand early on Monday morning to go to her village. At that time the accused deceived her and took her to the bus parked inside the depot and raped her. After this incident, the victim left to go to her village, but on the way she told her friend about the incident. Then on the advice of her friend, she complained to the police. After this, the police registered a case.

Who is Dattatreya Ramdas Gade? 
36-year-old Dattatreya Ramdas Gade has half a dozen cases of theft, robbery and chain snatching registered against him in Pune and nearby Ahilyanagar district. The police officer said that in 2024, a case of theft was also registered against Gade in Pune and he was called to the police station.

Dattatreya Ramdas Gade’s Chilling Crime History  
It has emerged that the accused introduced himself as the bus conductor and took the woman inside the bus. Swargate bus station officials came to know about the rape incident at 10 am, four hours after the crime. The woman, who works in the private medical sector, told the police that since the lights were not on inside the bus, she was initially hesitant to board the bus, but the man convinced her that it was the right vehicle. He then followed her inside and raped her before fleeing.

Dattatreya Ramdas Gade’s Trail of Crime Uncovered  
It has come to light that the woman did not contact the police immediately after the incident, but reached her hometown by another bus and informed her friend about the incident over the phone during the journey. According to the police, eight teams have been formed to catch the accused. A reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced on the accused. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has asked the Pune Police Commissioner to take strict action
