Crime News: A disturbing video has surfaced on social media showing an elderly Muslim man being assaulted by fellow passengers on an express train near Igatpuri in Maharashtra's Nashik district. The man, Haji Ashraf Munyar, was allegedly targeted on suspicion of carrying beef, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The incident, which took place earlier this week, has prompted the GRP to launch an investigation. The video captures a group of about a dozen individuals attacking Munyar, verbally abusing him, and physically assaulting him inside the train.
Haji Ashraf Munyar, a resident of Jalgaon district, was on his way to visit his daughter in Kalyan when the assault occurred. The attack took place near Igatpuri, and the GRP has since identified the victim and some of the assailants. "We have taken cognizance of the video and identified the victim. Some of the people involved in the attack have also been identified, and a probe is on," a GRP official stated. However, no formal complaint has been filed by Munyar, and the GRP is attempting to persuade him to come forward.

Among those identified as attackers is Aashu Avhad, a key figure in the incident. Avhad is the son of a member of the Special Reserved Police Force (SRPF) and was traveling to Mumbai with others to take a police exam. Despite being identified, Avhad and the others have not been arrested but are currently detained for questioning. Authorities are considering taking suo moto action if Munyar remains reluctant to file a complaint, fearing for his safety.
