Ayodhya: In a heartening display of communal harmony, two Muslim women from Varanasi, Nazneen Ansari and Najma Parvin, are set to embark on a meaningful journey to Ayodhya to bring back the sacred 'Ramjyoti' to their hometown ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. The torch, symbolizing the spirit of Lord Ram, will traverse through Muslim localities, aiming to convey the message that Lord Ram is a shared ancestor, and the commonality of DNA unites every Indian.

Flagging off the journey

The commencement of the duo's journey to Ayodhya will be officiated by Kashi’s Domraj Om Chaudhary and Mahant of Patalpuri Math Balak Das. In Ayodhya, Mahant Shambhu Devacharya will hand over the sacred torch to Nazneen and Najma. The duo plans to return with Ramjyoti on Sunday, bringing back with them the sacred soil of Ayodhya and holy water from the Saryu river.

Who are Nazneen Ansari, Najma Parvin?

Nazneen Ansari, a graduate in conflict management from BHU, and Najma Parvin, holding a PhD on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have been actively involved in promoting unity and peace. Both are dedicated members of the Rampanth, a right-wing organisation centred around devotion to Lord Ram.

Expressing her sentiments, Nazneen stated, “We are happy that the Ram temple has been constructed in Ayodhya. Ram is our ancestor. A person can change his religion but not the ancestor. Just as Mecca is for Muslims, Ayodhya is a holy place for Hindus and those who believe in Indian culture.”

Najma, a devotee of Ram for 17 years, has been actively engaging in interfaith dialogues through the Varanasi-based Hindu-Muslim Dialogue Centre. In 2006, during the bombing of Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi, Nazneen and Najma, along with 70 Muslim women, recited the Hanuman Chalisa to restore communal harmony. Since then, they have been participating in Shri Ram Aarti with hundreds of Muslim women during Ram Navami and Diwali.

The journey of Ramjyoti

The Ram Parivar Bhakti Movement, led by Rajiv Sriguruji, Mahant Shambhu Devacharya, and Mahant Balak Das, initiated the consecration of Shri Ram in Patalpuri Math on January 22. Nazneen and Najma will carry Ramjyoti to Varanasi and other districts, spreading the message of unity and shared cultural heritage. Sriguruji mentioned that the return of Ramjyoti will be celebrated at various locations in Jaunpur and Varanasi, with a special reception by the Muslim community at Subhash Bhawan in Lamahi village, Varanasi, on January 7.
