The deceased, identified as Ravi, was reportedly distressed after his neighbor refused to engage in a video call with him. This led him to send alarming videos via WhatsApp, which ultimately foreshadowed his tragic decision.

Disturbing WhatsApp conversations

The sequence of events began when Ravi, who had been married for four years and had a three-year-old daughter, reached out to a woman living in his neighborhood. Despite being married, Ravi maintained a friendship with this neighbor, which had become a subject of gossip within the community. On the day of the incident, while his wife was visiting her maternal home, Ravi attempted to initiate a video call with the woman but was met with refusal.

In a desperate act, he sent her two chilling videos: one depicting him drinking mosquito repellent spray and another showing him with a noose around his neck. These videos revealed the depth of his despair and served as a cry for help.

Sudden turn of events

The tragedy occurred in the Trans Yamuna Colony Phase 2 of the Etmaduddaula area. On Monday morning, Ravi's lifeless body was discovered hanging in his home, shocking the local community. At the time of his death, his ailing father was present in the house. The police, alerted to the scene, swiftly arrived and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

An investigation revealed that the last WhatsApp exchanges between Ravi and the neighbor took place around 1:45 AM, revealing a fraught conversation marked by jealousy and desperation. Ravi had reacted strongly to a comment made by the neighbor, which led him to threaten self-harm in a bid to get her attention. However, his threats seemed to have little impact.

Following the investigation, it was revealed that Ravi had become increasingly agitated after noticing his neighbor laughing with another young man. When questioned about this individual, the neighbor dismissed Ravi's concerns and continued to engage with him in a voice call. Unfortunately, his threats to end his life went unheeded, further compounding his sense of isolation and despair.

In a final act of hopelessness, Ravi ingested the insect spray before hanging himself. His last messages were met with indifference from the neighbor, who suggested that he should forget her.
