Adding to the crime list, a harrowing incident has come to light in Assam's Nagaon district, where a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped while returning home from a tuition class. The local police have detained two individuals in connection with the crime, as confirmed by authorities.

The brutal attack occurred on August 22 in the Dhing area, leaving the young victim in a semi-conscious state. Locals discovered her by the roadside and rushed her to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka, speaking with ANI, stated, "Police have picked up two persons for interrogation in connection with the incident. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are currently awaiting the medical report."

The appalling crime has triggered widespread outrage in the local community, leading to massive protests. Residents are demanding strict action against those responsible and justice for the young victim. In response to the incident, various organizations called for a bandh (shutdown) in the Dhing area on Friday.

Reacting to the incident, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his deep concern, describing the crime as an assault on humanity that has shaken the collective conscience of the state. He has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to visit the site and ensure swift justice.

While speaking to ANI, CM Sarma said, “After the recent Lok Sabha elections we are seeing a specific community of people indulging in criminal activities. The perpetrators of the incident at Dhing, involving a Hindu minor, will be punished.”

This incident follows nation-wide outrage over the recent murder and alleged sexual assault of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.
