The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections marked a historic victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as it reclaimed power in the capital after a 27-year-long wait. The party successfully dethroned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had ruled Delhi for 12 years. With BJP’s landslide victory, the burning question on everyone’s mind remains: Who will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi? When will the swearing-in ceremony take place? Here’s the latest update.

Swearing-in ceremony expected before February 15

According to party sources, the formation of Delhi’s new BJP-led government is likely to take place before February 15. The reason behind this timeline is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled return from his U.S. visit. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place only after his arrival.

PM Modi’s landmark US visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the United States on February 12 and 13, where he will meet U.S. President Donald Trump. Sources indicate that this meeting will cover several crucial global and bilateral issues. Following this visit, PM Modi will achieve a historic milestone, becoming the first leader to visit Washington, D.C., within the first month of Trump’s second term in office.

BJP secures 48 seats in Delhi assembly

Political insiders reveal that BJP is planning a grand swearing-in ceremony in Delhi, with top National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders and Chief Ministers from across the country expected to attend. The party’s remarkable comeback has been fueled by its strong electoral performance, securing 48 out of the 70 assembly seats.

Interestingly, BJP did not announce a Chief Ministerial candidate before the elections, a strategy it has used in several state elections. Instead, the party banked on PM Modi’s leadership and appeal to secure a victory. Currently, internal discussions are underway to finalize the name of Delhi’s next Chief Minister, and an official announcement is expected soon.
