West Bengal News: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a health worker while she was asleep in the children's ward of a government-run hospital in Kolkata. The woman had been staying at the Institute of Child Health (ICH), where her child was admitted for treatment. The accused, identified as Tanay Pal, a ward boy at the hospital, allegedly inappropriately touched and disrobed the woman during the night, according to her complaint.

Incident recorded on mobile phone

The complaint further revealed that the accused recorded the disturbing incident on his mobile phone. This case comes just weeks after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the government-run RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The alleged criminal act adds to the growing concerns regarding safety at public health facilities in the city.

Police action and investigation

Upon receiving the complaint, Kolkata Police quickly filed an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Tanay Pal was arrested and his mobile phone was seized for forensic analysis. He was subsequently produced in a local court and has been remanded to police custody. The investigation is ongoing to ensure justice is served.
