NEW DELHI:  Authorities in Cooch Behar faced a critical situation when a grenade was discovered in the Malkhana (storage room) of Sadar Court. Fortunately, the prompt actions of the Army bomb disposal team ensured the situation was resolved without incident.

The grenade was located within the premises of the Sadar Court Malkhana, causing immediate concern among local officials. The discovery prompted a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services. The bomb disposal team from Binnaguri Army Base was called in to manage the potentially dangerous situation.

Role of army

The Army team, highly trained in handling such threats, conducted a meticulous operation to diffuse the grenade. Their expertise was crucial in ensuring the device was safely neutralized on the sandbank of the River Torsha, far from populated areas to minimize risk. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Cooch Behar Police commented on the successful operation, expressing gratitude towards the Army team for their expertise and timely intervention. “The collaboration between our local police and the Army bomb disposal team was exemplary in managing this critical situation effectively,” stated the SP.
