In addition to Gujarat, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across other states, including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Meghalaya, and Mizoram. These regions have been grappling with severe flooding due to previous rains, and the forecasted weather is likely to exacerbate the situation. However, some relief may be on the horizon as Cyclone ASNA, which had intensified weather conditions, has begun to weaken.
The IMD confirmed the cyclone's weakening in a recent post on X: "Deep Depression (Remnant of CS ASNA) over northwest Arabian Sea weakened into a depression & lay centered at 05.30 hrs IST of 2 Sep over the same region about 200km southeast of Ras Al Hadd (Oman). Likely to weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area during next 6 hours."
In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where flooding has severely disrupted life, rains are expected to subside by Monday morning, bringing much-needed respite. Nevertheless, an orange alert remains in place, with isolated heavy rainfall predicted along the coastal areas from September 2 to 5.

For Mumbai, the IMD has forecasted light to moderate rain with occasional thundershowers over the next 24 hours, under generally cloudy skies.
In Delhi, moderate rainfall is expected on Monday under cloudy skies, with temperatures hovering around 34 degrees Celsius. The air quality is anticipated to remain satisfactory, with PM 2.5 levels at 53.
In the Northeast, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely in Assam and Meghalaya, while other states in the region, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, will experience isolated heavy rain over the next seven days.
The ongoing heavy rainfall across these regions has significantly impacted daily life, especially in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Gujarat. Flooding has disrupted drainage systems and transportation, leading to the cancellation of over 140 trains and the deployment of 26 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to manage the crisis.
