Weather: Rains-thunderstorm expected after IMD issues ‘Orange’ alert for THESE states

IMD issues satellite images of weather conditions in the country (IMD)

When Kerala and several other places are witnessing the massive devastation due to incessant rains and landslide which has claimed more than 143 lives so far, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning for more rains over East Uttar Pradesh, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, East Haryana, Lakshadweep, and North Chhattisgarh. 

According to the latest satellite image, it indicates that light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places, occasionally intensifying, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning.

The department has urged the residents in these areas to be prepared for sudden weather changes and take necessary precautions to stay safe. The combination of rainfall and thunderstorms may lead to localized flooding and disruptions, so staying informed through weather updates are essential.

Apart from this, the ‘Orange’ alert has been issued for Uttarakhand, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.

Apart from the northern regions, the ‘Red’ alert has been issued for several districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

More rains in Maharashtra expected

Moderate rain is expected at isolated places within the districts of Thane, Raigad, Palghar, and the ghat areas of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur. Additionally, light to moderate rain showers are expected at isolated places in Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Ahmadnagar, Sindhudurg, and the ghat areas of Nashik.
