New Delhi: Amid the ongoing strike by doctors following the rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, TMC MP Arup Chakraborty issued a stern warning, stating that the party would not shield doctors if public anger turns against them due to the strike.

Speaking at a rally in Bankura on Sunday, Chakraborty remarked, “In the name of the movement, you may go home or go about with your boyfriend. If a patient dies because of your strike and public anger falls on you, we will not save you.” The controversial statement has sparked significant debate, reflecting the tension surrounding the strike.

While some TMC leaders have expressed support for the protesters and condemned the violence, others have defended the state government’s stance. Udayan Guha, another TMC leader, warned critics of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying, “We will break the fingers of those who point them at Mamata Banerjee.” As the situation continues to develop, tensions remain high, with the striking doctors demanding justice and safety while facing mounting pressure from political figures.
