Criticising the 26 parties who formed the opposition alliance titled ‘INDIA’ for not inviting All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), national spokesperson Waris Pathan said that the ‘so-called secular parties’ were treating them as ‘political untouchables’.

The AIMIM leader questioned the motive behind ignoring the Asaduddin Owaisi-led party for the two-day opposition meeting that took place in Bengaluru.

“The so called secular parties did not call us [to the meeting], we are political untouchables for them. There are leaders who were once with the Bharatiya Janata Party including Nitish Kumar, Uddhav Thackeray and Mehbooba Mufti. We saw Arvind Kejriwal abusing Congress during the Gujarat Assembly elections, but even he is sitting in Bengaluru. Even we [AIMIM] are putting efforts to defeat BJP in 2024, but they [opposition parties] are ignoring Asaduddin Owaisi and our party,” Pathan said.

‘Opposition parties are a club of big chaudhuris’: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi

AIMIM has aired its disappointments with the giant opposition meeting in Bengaluru, with party leader Asaduddin Owaisi claiming last week that the 26 parties in the alliance are a club of big ‘chaudhuris’ (chiefs).

“If you [opposition parties] want to defeat BJP then you have to show the difference that you will not follow the agenda set by BJP. They [opposition parties] are a club of big ‘Chaudharis’,” Owaisi said on July 15.

He also expressed his disappointment at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not being invited to the alliance, saying, “They have not invited our Telangana CM to the meeting. He is not an ordinary person but a major player in politics.”
