In Sandeshkhali, a clash erupted between workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The TMC, in its social media posts, attributed the blame to BJP Lok Sabha candidate Rekha Patra and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to TMC's social media account, the incident captured in visuals demonstrates the agitation within BJP over the Sandeshkhali issue. The post alleges that women, under the leadership of BJP's Rekha Patra and allegedly sponsored by the BJP, ruthlessly assaulted a TMC worker. The TMC questioned the motive behind such actions, suggesting it was an attempt to divert attention from BJP's alleged conspiracy in Sandeshkhali. The party insinuated that the BJP, fearing repercussions, took matters into their own hands.

Adding to the criticism, Bengal Minister Shashi Panja attributed responsibility for the altercation to Prime Minister Modi.

Earlier in the day, Trinamool Congress has lodged an official complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner against National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma. In the complaint, TMC leaders urged criminal proceedings against Rekha Sharma, and local BJP leaders. This comes after multiple women in Sandeshkhali allegedly said that they were deceived into filling sexual assault complaints against TMC leaders.
