New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a massive public gathering in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, tomorrow, focusing on women’s empowerment and development initiatives. The event, which boasts a sprawling venue covering 47 acres, is expected to witness the participation of top political figures including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, alongside the state cabinet.

Unexpectedly, chairs adorned with stickers featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s photos and donation QR codes were spotted near the event podium earlier today, sparking controversy. A viral video shared by Marathi media outlet Lokshahi showcased the chairs with Rahul Gandhi’s images, bearing a message emphasizing India’s developmental journey.

Contractor erred

The presence of these chairs stems from a recent Congress rally in the area, where similar chairs were utilized. However, the contractor responsible for supplying the chairs to both the Congress and BJP events failed to remove the stickers, leading to a stir at the venue and prompting the viral circulation of the video.

Traffic disruptions, examination concerns

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, traffic diversions have been implemented in Yavatmal, potentially impacting students, including Class 12 candidates and those appearing for examinations under the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department. Authorities have advised examination candidates to adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.

Anticipated turnout and administrative preparations

The event is expected to draw around two lakh women from neighboring districts, with elaborate arrangements made by the administration to accommodate attendees. Special bus services have been arranged from various villages, with designated responsibilities assigned to teachers, Gram Sevaks, and other officials to ensure smooth facilitation.

Closure of single-teacher schools

As part of the logistical arrangements, several single-teacher schools in the district have been granted an afternoon off on the preceding day, with closures continuing into the event day due to staffing constraints.

As the preparations unfold, the juxtaposition of political symbolism and logistical challenges adds an intriguing dimension to the upcoming event in Yavatmal.
