New Delhi: Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from New Delhi to Srinagar encountered harrowing turbulence as heavy rain and adverse weather conditions rocked the aircraft during its journey.
The IndiGo flight, identified as 6E6125, departed from Delhi's airport at 5:25 pm, only to confront turbulence caused by the inclement weather en route to Srinagar. As the flight battled against the heavy rain, passengers found themselves gripping their seats tightly as the aircraft shook violently.
Baba Firdous, the chief of 'Kashmir Seva Sangh', was among the passengers on the turbulent flight. Reflecting on the experience, he described it as a moment of reckoning, signaling a renewed lease on life for himself and fellow travelers.
On the same day, parts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed relentless rains and snowfall, marking the second consecutive day of adverse weather. The 270-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway grappled with landslides and stone-shooting incidents from hillocks in Ramban district, prompting authorities to halt traffic. Additionally, two interstate highways were shut down as a precautionary measure due to fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Doda district.
The abrupt closure of major highways left hundreds of passengers stranded, emphasizing the disruptive impact of the weather on travel plans. Authorities issued advisories urging people to refrain from embarking on journeys along the affected highways until road clearance operations are completed and weather conditions ameliorate.
The turbulence experienced by the IndiGo flight underscores the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, particularly during critical transportation routes. As travelers navigate through inclement weather, heightened vigilance and adherence to safety protocols remain paramount to ensure secure journeys.
