New Delhi: In a startling development from Jalna district, Maharashtra, a disturbing video has emerged showing Maratha protestors setting a State Transport bus ablaze at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk of Tirthpuri city in Ambad taluka on Monday, February 26. The incident marks a severe escalation in the ongoing protests by the Maratha community against the state government's stance on Maratha reservation.

    Curfew enforced amidst raising tensions

Considering the volatile situation in Jalna, especially amidst the Maratha agitation, authorities have imposed a curfew in Ambad taluka of Maharashtra's Jalna district. The unrest following the bus arson has necessitated stringent measures to maintain public safety. However, specific exemptions have been made for essential services such as government offices, schools, movement on national highways, milk distribution, media, and hospitals.

    Traffic disruptions anticipated

Jalna Collector Srikrushna Panchal issued an order highlighting the potential traffic disruptions in the region. Activist Manoj Jarange Patil's announcement of staging a protest in Mumbai over Maratha community's reservation demand has raised concerns about significant gatherings in Antarwali Sarati village, Jalna. There are apprehensions that the surge in crowd density might impede traffic flow on the Dhule-Mumbai highway and surrounding areas. Despite initially departing for Bhamberi village, Patil returned to Antarwali Sarati for medical treatment on Monday morning.

The situation in Jalna remains tense as authorities work to diffuse the escalating tensions amidst the Maratha community's protests.
