Just ahead of the imminent Lok Sabha elections, a political firestorm has ignited with the disclosure of details concerning electoral bonds. The opposition has launched a scathing criticism of the Modi-led government at the center.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has now joined in the onslaught against the BJP administration, emphasising that the concept of electoral bonds, originally introduced and implemented by the BJP, has now unveiled its true nature before the nation.

Rahul Gandhi's Address on Electoral Bonds

During his participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Maharashtra, Rahul Gandhi addressed the media, labelling electoral bonds as the country's largest extortion racket. He alleged that these bonds serve as a means for companies to engage in weekly bribery and propagate corruption on a global scale.

Rahul Gandhi highlighted the modus operandi where companies face allegations initially, only to end up paying significant sums later. He underscored that electoral bonds not only epitomise corruption in India but also shed light on the government's involvement in such practices.

Allegations of Massive Financial Embezzlement

Rahul Gandhi further accused the government of embezzling substantial amounts, running into millions and billions of rupees, through the implementation of electoral bonds. He pointed out that once a government contract is awarded to a company, funds begin streaming into the BJP's funds through these bonds after a few months.

Additionally, he mentioned that corporate entities swiftly transfer money to the ruling party when investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiate legal actions against them.

Rahul Gandhi's Critique on Investigative Agencies

Apart from his critique of the government, Rahul Gandhi castigated the ED, alleging that instead of conducting impartial investigations, it indulges in extortion activities favouring the BJP. He urged the BJP to contemplate the eventual change in government and the accountability that would follow.

Rahul Gandhi hinted at a future where such corrupt practices would be permanently eradicated.
